SpectroCon, LLC
“Many of us in science don’t
have the background or inclination to manage the financial
end of research. Will
takes great care with all of our required reporting and manages
the day-to-day financial operations of our company, allowing
us to focus on our research mission.
The great thing about working with Will is that there’s nothing that’s too much trouble for him. He handles small and large issues for us and we know that things are being done correctly. It is a great relief!” — Nadine Connor, PhD, President SpectroCon is a start-up medical research company that develops and commercializes AutoFlow, a device used to treat postsurgical venous congestion.SpectroCon was established in February 2002 upon the receipt of a Phase I SBIR grant from the National Institutes of Health. Will’s involvement began by establishing financial reporting structures to facilitate the grant’s administration. Will then prepared the financial projections, budgets, and commercialization plan required for the Phase II grant submission. His plan showed how SpectroCon would be profitable with investment strategies, the equity contributed by its partners, and future clinical trial funding. This allowed SpectroCon to operate independently, rather than having to obtain a corporate partner. Will also led meetings to develop SpectroCon’s corporate structure. When the $750,000 Phase II grant was awarded in April 2004, Will began establishing SpectroCon’s compensation schedule, benefits plan, payroll system, and reimbursement system. He continues to grow the infrastructure of the company as its research demands, and as it gears up for Phase III grant submission next year. |
